Did you know? Children with disabilities are twice as likely to face behavior-related school suspension or expulsion as their peers. Many of them have unmet behavior support needs at school.

This giving season, we introduce you to Kari and Christina, whose families navigate the challenges of disability, behavior, and special education. Kari and Christina were desperate to understand their rights and advocate effectively for supports to address behavior associated with their children’s disabilities at school.

But they didn’t know what to do. At FACT Oregon, Kari and Christina received the support, information, and resources they needed to forge new paths forward and get results.

As Kari put it, “FACT Oregon gave me the clarity I was looking for to bring the ‘I’ into the IEP (Individualized Education Program)” Christina agrees: “FACT was instrumental in helping me to know how to advocate for my son to remain in school and to improve his IEP.”
